My research focuses on the evolutionary history and diversification of ray-finned fishes. I am integrating genomic, ecological, and morphological data layers with comparative methods to tackle evolutionary questions associated with morphological convergence, habitat transitions, and lineage diversification. In addition, I aim to understand the genetic bases of convergence and variation of morphological and ecological traits (e.g., snout elongation) by investigating the connection between the genotype and phenotype. In collaboration with an extensive network of groups, my research program relies heavily on conducting fieldwork activities and using museum collections to document the diversity of fishes.
